Protection concept for reopening on 27.05.2020

The safety of visitors and employees is our top priority. To ensure their protection, the HeK (Haus der elektronischen Künste Basel) has drawn up a comprehensive protection concept which implements the Covid-19 ordinances of the Federal Council and regulates visits to the museum. This includes:

  • Tickets

Visitors should, if possible, obtain a ticket online in advance. On site we prefer ticket payment.

  • Hygiene and cleaning

Visitors are requested to disinfect their hands on arrival at the HeK or wash them with soap and water in the restrooms in the basement. Employees do the same and repeat this before and after each break. No flyers or brochures will be put up. You will receive your personal exhibition guide at the cash desk. We prefer to pay by card - in exceptional cases you can use cash. Additional cleaning and hygiene measures are provided for throughout the museum infrastructure. This concerns, among other things, the cleaning intervals of door handles, taps, counter area and toilets. Sneeze or cough in the crook of your arm - and stay at home if you feel ill! There is no obligation to wear a mask. Please note that wardrobe and lockers are currently locked.

  • Keep your distance and maximum number of people

The cash desk is separated from the customers by a plexiglass wall. A minimum distance of 2 metres applies throughout the entire building, whether on guided tours or individual visits.
Distance markings are placed on the floor in front of the checkout and for queues.
The number of persons (visitors and employees) in the museum is limited to 50 persons in total or 6 persons in the foyer, 40 persons in the exhibition room and in the video boxes in exhibition room 1 or 2 persons. Exceptions apply to families and persons in the same household.

  • Tours, workshops and other events

We offer tours with 4 visitors. Workshops, concerts and other events are currently not offered. Instead, we provide an extensive online programme.

  • Particularly endangered persons and persons with COVID 19

Persons belonging to a risk group are asked to refrain from visiting a museum for the time being. We ask visitors who feel ill or have COVID-19 symptoms to stay at home.

  • bistro Genusswerk&co

The bistro genusswerk&co has a separate entrance and its own protection concept. Please observe the measures there.

Our employees are authorised to intervene in case of risky behaviour.

We thank you for your understanding and ask you to observe the rules for your own protection and that of your fellow human beeing.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back soon!
