HEK, FHNW Academy of Art and Design, Kunsthaus Baselland and iart invite the Basel Video scene to contribute their works to a 4-day video festival: «BYOB - Bring Your Own Beamer», in the TransBona Hall at Dreispitz.

The exhibition format «BYOB - Bring Your Own Beamer» was created by Dutch-Brazilian artist Rafaël Rozendaal (*1980, lives and works in New York) and has been repeated at hundreds of BYOB events worldwide. In the context of HEK’s "Oslo Night" in 2013, the first BYOB event took place in the German-speaking region of Switzerland. The whole idea is to create a short-term exhibition that enables artists to playfully explore film and new media. In DIY spirit, artists are responsible for providing the materials they need to present their work. Thanks to the flexible nature of the format, unconventional and experimental approaches to installation with regards to the space and in relationship to the other exhibited works, is encouraged.

For four days, from 11 to 14 May 2023, HEK will exhibit "BYOB - Bring Your Own Beamer" in the TransBona Hall at Dreispitz, opening up a platform for the creative Basel video scene.

We would like to invite all artists living in or connected to the tri-national region of Basel to SHowcase their own video work for BYOB Basel.
