Participants of the workshop will look into different approaches to curation and various models of curatorial practice in the area of Internet art. Workshop leader Aram Bartholl will introduce a variety of exhibition formats from the past decades presenting digital art. Participants are invited to discuss a wide range of approaches from online exhibitions and Speed Shows – an exhibition format developed by the artist – to the latest concepts such as gallery.delivery.

What is the status of art on the Internet? How do artists and institutions cope with the fading presence of the web? What to do with the ever growing hell of likes with no links to the web? Participants will discuss ideas, concepts and possible solutions.

The workshop is addressed at art students, professionals and the interested public.

Aram Bartholl’s work creates an interplay between the Internet, culture and reality. How do our taken-for-granted communication channels influence us? Bartholl asks not just what humans are doing with media, but what media is doing with humans. Tensions between public and private, online and offline, techno-lust and everyday life are at the core of his work, his public interventions and installations. His works often entail surprisingly physical manifestations of the digital world and challenge our concepts of reality and incorporeality. Bartholl has exhibited at MoMA Museum of Modern Art in New York, Skulptur Projekte in Münster, Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Hamburger Bahnhof and the Thailand Biennale among others. Bartholl lives and works in Berlin.
