Registration: https://vermittlunghek.typeform.com/to/WIcVgi

Participants will have the opportunity to experiment in the installation Immersive Lab developed by the ICST and to realize their own ideas. This workshop is aimed at people who are interested in working with interactive digital media in an immersive and collaborative setting.

Immersive Lab

The Immersive Lab is an interactive sound and video space; in a ring-shaped arrangement it presents digital media generated in real time in a panorama projection with surround sound. The entire surface of the installation is touch-sensitive and allows visitors to interactively influence the media content through hand gestures.

The Immersive Lab has been further developed by the ICST for several years as a platform for the realization and presentation of artistic works. During this time, numerous guest artists have realized their own works within the framework of residencies. In this way, a large number of works have been created which, in their diversity, show a broad spectrum of artistic positions in dealing with digital media.

Workshop

The workshop will take place from 30 November to 4 December 2019 at the HeK( House of Electronic Arts) and will be led by the initiators of Immersive Lab Daniel Bisig and Jan Schacher, and will begin with an introduction to the conceptual and technical basics. Subsequently, the participants will work individually or in groups on their own works for the Immersive Lab. These works will be shown to the interested public in an exhibition on the last evening of the workshop.

The workshop is aimed at people who work with digital audiovisual media and are interested in experimenting with the unusual spatial, interactive and collaborative environment of the Immersive Lab. In order to be optimally involved in the workshop, interested participants should have basic knowledge in dealing with programming environments that are oriented towards artistic real-time applications (e.g. Max-MSP, PD, Supercollider, Processing, OpenFrameworks). Positive additional competence, but not a prerequisite, is experience with collaborative forms of interaction, e.g. in game environments or media performance settings.

Time: 10:00-13:00 and 14:00-17:00
