Joan Heemskerk (*1968), Kaatsheuvel, Netherlands, and Dirk Paesmans (*1965), Brussels, Belgium, live and work in the Netherlands.
Behind the pseudonym Jodi, or jodi.org, which is also a website, is a Dutch artist collective consisting of Joan Heemskerk and Dirk Paesmans. Originally trained in photography and video art, both are now considered pioneers of net art. Since the mid-1990s, they have been creating their technologically abstract works with and on the net, dedicating themselves primarily to software and game art. For their game modifications, they use the aesthetics of errors and glitches to deconstruct the structures of computer games.
