Family Day: Invisible Helpers

On Family Day, we invite families with children aged seven and over to discover the current exhibition together and become scientists themselves during a workshop in the kitchen laboratory.

Age: from seven years

Admission: exhibition entry (free admission for children up to 16 years of age)

Registration: vermittlung@hek.ch

The exhibition Eco-Visionaries is dedicated to the theme of ecological change and presents artistic reactions to it. The exhibition examines how new media, technologies and technoscientific methods in the arts can influence our awareness of the „ecological.“

On Family Day, visitors can discover the exhibition together in a playful way and then delve deeper into the secrets of the microbial cosmos in our food: In a fermentation workshop, the participants will produce ketchup and lemonade.

Together with the artist Maya Minder, the visitors get to know microbes and yeast fungi as helpers in our diet. Although these are invisible, they can be found everywhere in our daily life – for example in cheese, yoghurt, sauerkraut and more. During the workshop the families learn how these little helpers can strengthen us or make us sick.

Please register as the number of participants is limited. The workshop is held in German.
