The exhibition examines new media, technologies and technoscientific methods in the arts and their significance for the perception and awareness of the "ecological." Eco-Visionaries presents artistic responses to current challenges. The exhibition shows how new media and technologies are used, not only to draw attention to ecological problems, but also to develop visionary solutions.
Dr. Yvonne Volkart is a lecturer in art and media theory at the ZHdK and the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst FHNW Basel. Since 2017, she is the head of the SNF research project Ökodaten – Ökomedien – Ökoästhetik. Thereout – amongst other projects – the exhibition Eco-Visionaries curated with Karin Ohlenschläger (LABoral, Gijon) and Sabine Himmelsbach (HeK Basel) was developed. Volkart writes regularly for the Austrian art magazine Springerin and lives as an author in Zurich. Her focus lies on ecology, technology and gender studies in art.
